Foreword by the Principal

D Shabangu 2It is both a privilege and an honour to welcome you to the 2026 academic year. As a rural TVET college serving the communities of Mnquma and Mbhashe Local Municipalities within the Amathole District Municipality, we operate in an environment that presents both opportunities and challenges. Among the challenges we continue to face are under-equipped practical workshops, inadequate training equipment and consumables, and the need for continuous staff development to meet the evolving demands of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training sector. These challenges have become even more significant as the sector prepares for the implementation of Occupational Qualifications, which require modern training facilities, industry-standard equipment, competent lecturers, and workplace-relevant learning environments.

Despite these constraints, King Hintsa TVET College remains steadfast in its commitment to providing quality education and training to the young people of our region. Our vision is not defined by our limitations but by our determination to create opportunities that transform lives, strengthen communities, and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the Eastern Cape and South Africa.

I am particularly proud of the efforts being made across our campuses to strengthen teaching and learning through innovation, partnerships, and resource mobilization.

The College continues to engage with Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), government departments, industry partners, and other stakeholders to secure grant funding and support for the development and capacitation of our workshops, learning facilities, and human capital. These collaborations are critical in ensuring that our students receive relevant practical training that enhances their employability and entrepreneurial potential.

Equally important is our focus on staff development. We recognize that the success of our students depends largely on the competence, dedication, and motivation of our lecturers and support staff. The College therefore continues to strengthen its invest in lecturer upskilling, occupational competence development, industry exposure, and professional capacity building to ensure that our staff remain responsive to the changing needs of the world of work and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As we celebrate our achievements, we also acknowledge that our journey continues. We remain focused on building a modern, responsive, and inclusive TVET institution that produces skilled graduates, artisans, entrepreneurs, and responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to the development of our country.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all our partners, stakeholders, staff members, and students for their unwavering support and commitment. Together, we are laying a solid foundation for a brighter future and ensuring that King Hintsa TVET College remains a catalyst for skills development, economic growth, and social transformation.

Together, we are shaping futures, transforming communities, and building a skilled nation. Once again welcome to the new academic cycle and we wish all the new students a great journey with us. To the older students let’s continue to keep the flag of KHC flying, onwards! upwards!
