Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) – Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) – Student Enrollment

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) Regional Office in the Eastern Cape recently conducted a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) monitoring visit at the college as part of the 2026 registration process.

The DHET delegation was warmly welcomed by the college management team led by Ms N.P. Makhwezela, Acting Deputy Principal: Registrations. The visit formed part of the department’s annual oversight to ensure the proper implementation of registration SOPs across all colleges. The monitoring visit took place on 7–8 January 2026 at Willowvale and Dutywa campuses. During the visit, DHET officials conducted campus walkabouts, engaging with newly accepted students and observing the registration process to ensure that the prescribed registration tools and procedures were being followed. These monitoring visits aim to ensure a seamless and standardized registration experience for all students, regardless of whether they are registering at urban or rural campuses. Some of the focus points on the SOP visit include but not limited to Marketing and Communication of college application times and dates, application procedures, Programmes offered and the application/registration procedure. Following each visit, colleges are evaluated and scored according to their compliance with the SOP guidelines.

The college previously achieved an outstanding 99% SOP compliance score in 2025, ranking number one in the province. The institution remains committed to maintaining this excellent performance during the 2026 academic year.

WELCOME TO THE 2026 ACADEMIC YEAR, AND BEST WISHES TO OUR STUDENTS!!!!!
