King Hintsa TVET College Receives Digital Reality Equipment Following SIFA AR/VR Training
King Hintsa TVET College has strengthened its commitment to digital innovation following the successful completion of the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) Digital Reality (AR/VR) Training Programme, held in partnership with Walter Sisulu University (WSU).
The two-day training programme brought together lecturers and students to explore the transformative role of Augmented Reality (AR)and Virtual Reality (VR) in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Participants gained practical experience on how immersive technologies can enhance teaching, learning, skills development, and graduate employability.
The workshop was facilitated by a team of distinguished academics and researchers from leading higher education institutions across Africa, including:
- Prof. Clinton Aigbavboa – University of Johannesburg, South Africa
- Prof. Olusegun Oguntona – Walter Sisulu University, South Africa
- Dr. Simon Ametepey – Koforidua Technical University, Ghana
- Dr. Shola Akinshipe – University of Johannesburg, South Africa
- Dr. Opeoluwa Akinnadewo – University of the Free State, South Africa
- Dr. Patience Olatunji-Olayemi – Covenant University, Nigeria
As part of the programme, King Hintsa TVET College received a Digital Reality equipment package, comprising Virtual Reality (VR) headsets, smart glasses, controllers, and a high-performance laptop. The equipment will support the integration of immersive technologies into teaching and learning, enabling educators and students to continue exploring innovative digital learning experiences beyond the training.
The equipment was officially received on behalf of the College by Mr Ndinisa and Mr Solven, who accepted the donation during the closing session.
The SIFA initiative, implemented through collaboration between African higher education institutions and strategic partners, seeks to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies within TVET colleges while equipping educators and students with future- ready skills for the evolving world of work.
